Rogers info?

Ive been put through to a guy whose coming over to the UK from USA selling a vintage Rogers kit (well early 70's I believe) he's had in storage for yrs over here. I dont know the model or type of wood but im told its a lovely sounding kit. Any opinions on old Rogers kits as I have very little knowledge on these drums. He's practically giving them away.... a worthwhile little investment?

If it's a steal, what have you to lose? Mind those Swiv-O-Matic holders! I doubt if they're available anymore if one goes belly up.

The Not So Modern Drummer people call any kit 25 years or older vintage. I have a 1977 Ludwig set that seems to have aged like the wood in the old Fender guitars. Sounds better than ever (but they've never been shunted into a garage.)

I had a VERY nice Rogers kit when I started playing back in 1975. Like a stupid kid, I sold it and wanted something new. DUMB! I wish I still had that kit.

Rogers drums are 100% Maple shells with plastic covers. Depending on when in the 70s this kit is from will determine the hardware. They came out with the Memoriloc system with 1" tubes right around 1975. The big seller is the Dynasonic snare drum though. It's a heavy COB snare with a very unique under snare system where you can adjust the tightness of the snares across, like making a guitar string higher.

If I found a nice Rogers kit for the right price, I wouldn't think twice about buying it.
